Hands on guidance through the entire Tennessee licensing process.
Kelly walks alongside you from your first session through your application. Multiple working calls, document reviews, and direct support throughout. You submit. We support.
Who this is for.
The Application Package is for contractors who want a real guide through the whole process, not just a single conversation. Most of our package clients fall into one of these groups.
The "starting from zero" applicant. You've decided to get licensed but you haven't touched the paperwork. You want someone to map the entire path for you and stay involved as you walk it.
The applicant who's already started and is overwhelmed. You opened the state's application portal, downloaded the forms, looked at the financial statement requirement, and realized you'd rather have someone in your corner. You're not stuck on one question, you're stuck on the whole thing.
The contractor whose time is more valuable than $697. You could figure this out alone. You also know that spending 40 hours of your own time on something an experienced guide could compress into 4 to 6 working calls is not the best use of you. Outsource the headache and stay on the tools where you make real money.
What's included.
Everything you need from "I want to get licensed" to "the application is in."
Working sessions
Scheduled video calls spread across 6 to 8 weeks. Each one focused on the next phase of your application, with clear deliverables and homework between sessions.
Documents reviewed
Every form, letter of recommendation, experience verification, and supporting document gets reviewed before it goes to the state board. Catches the small mistakes that cause big delays.
Email support
Direct email access to Kelly between sessions. No tickets, no chatbots. When something comes up mid week, you get a real answer from a real licensed contractor.
The six week roadmap.
Most clients work through the package on a six to eight week timeline. Your pace may vary based on how quickly you can gather documents and schedule exams, but the general shape looks like this.
Week 1: Foundation
First working session. We map your specific path. Determine the right license classification for your trade and the size of jobs you plan to pursue. Identify which documents you already have, which you need to gather, and the order to attack them in. You leave with a complete punch list.
Weeks 2 to 3: Document gathering
You're hunting down experience verification letters, insurance certificates, articles of organization, and other supporting documents. We have a working session midway through to troubleshoot anything that's stuck. Kelly reviews drafts as you produce them.
Week 4: The financial statement
This is where most applicants either give up or pay too much. We connect you with a CPA who understands the Tennessee contractor financial statement requirement. Kelly reviews the draft before submission to make sure the monetary limit aligns with the work you actually want to do.
Week 5: Exam preparation
Working session focused on the business and law exam and the trades exam. Which books to focus on, how to set up your reference materials, the question patterns most applicants miss. Kelly took the same exams recently. The memory is fresh.
Week 6: Final review and submission
Last working session. Full document package review. We catch the typos, mismatched dates, and missing signatures that cause the state to send applications back. You submit. Then we wait.
After submission
The state typically takes 4 to 8 weeks to review. During that time you can email Kelly with any questions that come up. If the board requests additional information, we work through the response together.
What you also get that nobody talks about.
Scam letter identification. Within days of registering your business with the state of Tennessee, you'll start getting letters that look like they're from official agencies, demanding fees for things you've already paid for or don't actually need. Kelly got hit by several of these. We help you recognize them and ignore them.
Vendor recommendations. CPAs who actually understand the contractor financial statement. Insurance agents who know the bond requirements. Registered agent services that don't gouge. We've vetted enough of these to know who's worth your money.
Exam booking strategy. The exams are administered by PSI. There are tactical decisions about which test center to use, which time of day to schedule, and how to handle the open book format. Small things that add up.
Honest feedback on your readiness. Kelly will tell you if your experience documentation is thin. He'll tell you if your financial statement isn't strong enough for the limit you're requesting. Better to hear it from him than to get the application sent back from the state board.

Common questions.
How does this compare to companies that "do it for you"?
Some national services charge $1,500 or more to handle your application paperwork on your behalf. Two issues with that model. First, they can't legally take your exams for you, so you still have to do that part. Second, they treat Tennessee like one of 50 states they serve, with customer service staff who don't have firsthand experience. Kelly is a Tennessee licensed contractor who has been through the same process you're starting. The package is priced significantly below those services, and you get a guide who supports you throughout, not a faceless processor.
What if I'm slow gathering my documents?
Most clients take six to eight weeks. Some take three months. The package isn't on a strict timer. As long as you're making reasonable progress, Kelly will stay engaged. If you go completely dark for more than 90 days, we'll pause the engagement and resume when you're ready.
What if my application gets denied?
Denials are rare when applications are properly prepared, but they happen. If the state board denies your application, Kelly will help you understand why and what your options are (appeal, refile with corrections, or pursue a different classification). The package covers one refile if needed.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. The default is 50% to start and 50% at submission. We can also discuss other arrangements if the standard split doesn't work for your situation.
What if I decide partway through that I just want to stop?
If you decide not to continue, we refund unused portions of the engagement on a pro-rated basis based on which sessions have happened. Nobody's locked in.
